Jah Trinity Sound System - The Early Years...
SAT 26TH AUGUST 1986 @ Gloucester Park

Jah Trinity Sound System was asked to play in the Gloucester Park during the annual carnival. We took half the sound system comprising of 8 Celestion 18” bass speakers and two 15” midrange speakers.

We would normally take the complete system of 16 bass speakers (200 watts each) to play other sound Systems. Jah Trinity always had brown painted boxes with the Ethiopian red, gold and green stripe, this was our trade mark no matter which box design was used. Raff was also a key member of Jah Trinity Sound System.

The amplifier case (positioned on the bandstand), was always silver, made from either zinc alum or galvanised iron.

Imperial International was another Gloucester sound system, which help to inspire the building of Jah Trinity sound. Imperial had black boxes with the Ethiopian colours. This was a tough Rastafarian sound that had excellent music and plenty of vibes. Each sound played 2 records each during this festival.

By today’s standards, Jah Trinity’s boxes looked quite ramshackle! But they sounded heavy and played all over the UK. Have a look at Jah Trinity’s new steel “Earthshaker Sound System” designed & built in Adelaide Australia. These subs use 700watt speakers and are built to last years. They truly sound incredible and look amazing according to the public.
